2016

Where It All Began

Born from research at the MIT Media Lab, our work explored how robotic prosthetic technology could help people without limb loss. That pursuit led to the first ankle exoskeleton in history that makes walking easier—and ultimately to the founding of Dephy.

2019

Supporting Service Members

After years of prototyping, the first version of the Sidekick was developed to support service members across multiple branches—helping them walk farther, reduce fatigue, and recover faster from injury, all through a system directly integrated into their footwear.

2022

Expanding to the Public

Seeing the success of the early prototype, Dephy developed the first ankle exoskeleton designed for the general public, bringing advanced mobility technology to everyone and began testing for everyday comfort and usability.

2023

Real World Validation

A pivotal moment for Dephy came during its first real-world demonstration at Lake Nona, Florida. Beta users tested an early version of the device, and their feedback went beyond performance, with participants describing feeling “light again,” “in control,” and “like myself.” This response marked an inflection point for Dephy, validating that the company was restoring confidence, independence, and connection—not just mobility.

2024

Next-Generation Development

As we continued refining the powered walking experience through extensive user testing and real-world feedback, we introduced purpose-built footwear designed to work seamlessly with Sidekick—optimizing biomechanics, comfort, and energy transfer with every step.

2026

Launching the Sidekick

After hundreds of demos, public wear trials, and beta tests, Sidekick launches in 2026—comfortable, powerful, and adaptive bionic footwear designed to redefine how people experience mobility, one step at a time.
